It's not too late for a post, right?!

Thursday is not too late to write to all of you, right?! The past week was pretty mundane really. I did get to have dinner with Kristi. We had a bet pertaining to a bunch of basketball games in March which I lost and that meant dinner was on me. We ended up at Paradise and had a great time reconnecting. It has been some time since we chatted. She’ll be moving to the UK in September, taking a job with Principal Financial Group there. Needless to say, she’s more than pumped and excited about it. It will be a huge change for her, but it was too good an opportunity for her to pass up. I did get her connected with Adele since she’s in London and that’s where Kristi will be working.

The restaurant was the busiest we’ve ever been since I started working which was great for business. All of us at the front of the house did a great job and overall the customers were more than happy with the way everything turned out which is music to my ears. However, it made the night go a little long, but I guess that’s OK. Thank goodness I got to sleep in a little on Saturday. It was definitely a very lazy Saturday, and the way I look at it, I earned it. I watched a couple of movies then it was off to the Barnes and Noble to catch up on my magazine reading. Dinner was spent at Ann and Harley’s. Not sure if I told you, but Ann and Harley are looking at selling their house and if they are successful, they will be splitting their time with both daughters in Arizona and Brainerd, MN (It’s very north in MN almost to the Canadian border). They’ve been getting rid of a lot of stuff, and I’ll actually be headed over there after work today to help move some stuff out of the basement and put it on the curb since there’s a neighborhood cleanup day this Saturday. It has been quite some time since I was over at their home so it was nice just to catch up and chat. Anna was not able to join us because she had a bunch of stuff to get done and her band had a gig that night.

On Sunday, the restaurant was pretty busy over brunch which definitely made the day go by pretty quickly. We did not really have any long down time. It was one of the cook’s last day and I had gotten a cheesecake after asking for his preference. He’ll actually be headed to France for an internship before moving to Chicago where he’ll attend the French Pastry School. In fact, he’s rented a room at Jesda’s house so I told him I’ll most likely see him in the fall when Anna and I make it to Chicago for a visit. He’s been a wonderful cook, and I know we’ll all miss him, but we know this will be a great experience for him. After I got off work, Anna and I got to spend some one on one time with each other. With the musical starting tonight, it feels like we’ve not been able to spend any quality time whatsoever, and I’m thankful that we were able to do that on Sunday.

That’s pretty much how the week went for me. This weekend, Al and Karen will be in town so that should be a lot of fun. They will for the first time get to see Anna perform with her band. The band will only be playing one set, but it’ll be outdoors. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will cooperate. We’ll be attending the musical, Little Shop of Horrors too where Anna will be directing the music so that will be tons of fun. On Sunday, all of us will head downtown for dinner at an Italian restaurant joined by Joel, Kathy and John. I’m definitely looking forward to the weekend. Talk about one festive weekend.
