Today is a much better day and I’m able to carve out some time to write. The biggest news is that Anna got a new vehicle. She got a 2010 Toyota Rav4. It’s a compact SUV that rides higher and more importantly has AWD. She really likes it and that’s the most important thing. Trust me, with the weather this winter, there’s nothing like an SUV with AWD.
School was closed on Thursday and Friday because of dangerously cold weather, lots of snow and also very strong winds. I actually made it in to the office on Thursday morning and Joel informed me that the office was closed. I had enough to keep me busy so I kept working until I left for my annual eye exam.
Oh, on Wednesday, Joel, Kathy, Anna and I watched the musical Lion King. We had gotten tickets to the performance and the seats were amazing. Even though I’ve seen it before, I still can’t help be amazed by the musical especially the puppetry. Needless to say, all of us had a great time at the musical. The weather kept some people away, but it was a still almost full.
We went to one of Anna’s friend’s house for a dinner get together. We seem to rotate between three couples and they decided to host this time. Actually, they informed us that it could possibly be the last time they host it at their present house because they are looking to close on their house and will be building a new home. It was good to catch up with them.
In all honesty, that’s all that took place last week. In so very many ways, not a whole lot happened because of the weather. People pretty much stayed indoors where it was warm. Travel was not advised one bit. I should tell you that with all the school closings, instead of getting off school on June 7th, she’ll only be getting off on June 14th which is four days before the wedding. The bad news is that there could still be a couple more snow days between now and the end of winter and if that’s the case, she might go all the way till the wedding. Needless to say, that’s not sitting well with her, but I keep telling her that it’s something she has no control over. Time will tell and we’ll just have to wait and see how things go.
That’s all from me.

Happy New Year 2010!
There’s really not too much to write about except to report how the New Year went. Actually it just dawned on me that I did do something I’ve never done. More on that later!
Let’s see …I did work at Paradise on New Year’s Eve and it was busy. We knew we were going to have more business than normal just by the amount of reservations, but we were busy. I would have been happy giving all the tables that came in to the servers, but they were more than a little overwhelmed and I jumped in. I ended up taking three tables, but that really helped them a lot. Servers always like to be busy because it means more tips. I was kind of surprised by the amount of people who came in because the weather was pretty darn cold. I’m not complaining for sure. I left the restaurant close to 10:15PM and motored my way over to Joel and Kathy’s to ring in the new year like I’ve done for a number of years now. Kathy’s sister, Barb, her husband, Paul and their kids, Erik and Laura were they and it was a nice small celebration. We read resolutions from last year and wrote new one for the upcoming year. Joel provided us with some nice bubbly to ring in the year and I left their house close to 12:45AM. There weren’t too many people on the roads which was nice. Anna had sent me a note earlier that day letting me know that she would be headed back to DM on New Year’s Day.
After I got up on New Year’s morning, I pretty much hung around and watched a couple of dvds. Now, here comes the part where I did something I’ve never done in my life. Paul, Laura and Erik have always gone snow tubing on New Year’s Day and they’ve always invited me, but for some reason, I’ve never been able to make it. This year, I got to join them and yes, I went snow tubing on New Year’s Day which was a blast. The temperate was more than cold, but still it was a lot of blast. There weren’t that many people which made it more fun since we did not have to be in line for a long time. Snow tubing is really easy …all you do is pick an inflated tube, and the people at the park, would attach it to a cable that pulls it up the hill. You sit on the tube while you’re hauled up and when you reach the top of the hill, sit down and get ready to go downhill and some pretty fast speed. It was pretty darn exhilarating to say the least.
Later that night, the six of us adults went out for dinner at Proof Restaurant which is also the restaurant where we’ll have the wedding rehearsal dinner. It was a three course meal and mark my words, the food was out of this world amazing. All of us ordered different things and Anna and I pretty much split our courses, but everything was just delicious beyond belief. Barb and Paul were more than impressed with the food. What a great way to start the New Year! After dinner we went back to the Olahs for some night cap.
Not too much took place on Saturday. We ran a bunch of errands before Anna ended up with a new vehicle! She got a 2010 Toyota Rav4. It’s considered a compact SUV and she wanted to get an SUV that would allow her to drive higher and also something that comes with 4WD. She’s very happy with her purchase. The only downside to it is that she’s not able to take possession of it until later today because the car was in route from a dealer in MN. Needless to say, she’s anxious about her new “baby”!
