Eagle Scout.

Today I attended my first ever Eagle Scout ceremony. One of the RE students, Matt asked me to say the opening and closing prayer. I was honored to do that. The Eagle Scout is the highet achievement any scout can achieve. It was a wonderful ceremony steeped in tradition and I learned quite a lot about its history and significance. I'm so glad Matt asked me to be part of the ceremony.

In the afternoon, I went to Colleen Pokorny's high school graduation party. I can't believe I've seen this kid grow up all the years I've been at St. Catherine's. There were a lot of people from church who were there ... it was as if everyone just went there after Mass. I remember some years ago, I actually spend the night at the Pokorny house taking care of Matt and Colleen. Needless to say, that was quite some time ago. Everyone is just growing up left and right. I also got to catch up with Matt and Alicia after they got back from their Europe trip. The major news is that Matt proposed to Alicia over the trip and the wedding will take place next May. Two weekends in May I'll have stuff going on. Dan Schuster, a Drake friend of mine will who is a couple of years my junior will be ordained a priest in Green Bay. I'm definitely planning on attending that ceremony. Thank goodness Matt and Alicia's wedding is not on the same weekend. There's just so much to celebrate!

It was a pretty short weekend with Memorial Day and all. Work wise, I'm trying to get as much stuff completed before I go on a short vacation starting on Wednesday. Carol and I will be driving down to Omaha for a concert. Actually, she'll be attending the concert while I just hang out in Omaha. I've no desire to go to a Country & Western Concert. I've known Carol since I was in second grade back in Malaysia and I can't wait to meet up with her. She's in Chicago right now attending a conference and once that's over, she'll be taking a bus and I'll pick her up from the station. On Thursday, we'll be driving to Chicago and just hang out. I had gottend tickets to the Chicago Symphony and also to an outdoor concert at Ravinia. I'm definitely looking forward to both those events. I also found out that THE Chicago Blues Festival takes places this weekend too. There will be tons of people descending to Chicago for sure. Chicago is definitely the place to listen to Blues and I can't believe how lucky we are to be there for the Blues Festival. I'll leave it to Carol whether she wants to go to the festival. It's free so you really have nothing to lose. We'll also be meeting up with Rob and his new girlfriend. It'll be a nice vacation.

Once I get back from Chicago it'll pretty much be touch and go especially when it comes to work because I need to get all the work done before my main three week long vacation to Colorado. Yay! It'll all get taken care of, I'm sure of it and I'm definitely getting excited about the Colorado trip.
