Another Wedding Weekend.

This weekend was another wedding weekend for me. Eric was a former roommate at Drake and his wife was in my RCIA program two years ago. They've been members of the church for some time so it was really nice to receive the wedding invitation. Surprisingly, it was not a wedding Mass, but a wedding service at the church. Eric is a staunch Catholic, but Laura's family is not Catholic so I'm guessing that's the reason. The reception was held at the Hotel Fort Des Moines which is not even a block from my apartment so that worked out pretty darn well for me. At the wedding, I met up with Lisa Soard (formerly Hunt) who is now married and living in Chicago. We used to all hang out while at Drake so it was wonderful just catching up on the good old days. Weddings have a way of reconnecting people. She's been married three years now and is working for a PR firm in Chicago. I've one more person to meet up with when I'm in Chicago. Yay!

Apart from the wedding, not a whole lot took place. I did find out that there are some week day open hours at the facility and I got in touch with the assistant to the administrator and asked her if it was possible for me to change my Saturday shifts. She said she sees no problem, but will need to confirm with the administrator. If I'm able to change my shift, I'll have Saturdays off which would be fantastic. My fingers are crossed.

Next weekend I'll be headed up to Green Bay, Wisconsin for Dan Schuster's priesthood ordination. John, Sr. Carola and I will be car pooling and we'll be sure to have a blast. Dan and I have been playing phone tag for the past couple of days and I know he's very excited and definitely looking forward to his ordination. The three of us are just exhilirated to be present at the ordination. It's been a great journey to see him go through all the ups and downs of seminary life and finally see it come to fruition. That trip would be the last of my weekend jaunts until I make my long vacation back to Malaysia. Can't really believe that it's coming up pretty soon. I'm excited to say the least.

Nothing else to add for the week/weekend. I'm sure there will be more to write especially after next weekend's festivities.
